So we’re onto season 2 of “Mozart in the Jungle” now! MIJ is a great show – it has perfect casting, witty scripts, great actors…and screenwriters who try to unsuccessfully imagine how the classical music scene works. Actually it sometimes even adds to the fun that they don’t have a clue, as we become witnesses to scenes and dialogues that would never happen in real life. Isn’t that what TV is about?
But as it is fun to nitpick here is a rundown of all the mistakes in season 2, episode by episode….

The concert master playing the Sibelius concerto, one of the most demanding pieces in the whole repertoire, unprepared, on short notice, without practicing it at all….is just bullshit, complete bullshit. And Rodrigo again forgets to tune the violin that is handed to him. Probably his fingers have perfect pitch and always know how to change position to stay in tune, something that even Paganini wouldn’t have managed.

Let us try to listen between the cracks of what is obvious. Let us try to look at the things in an awkward and unusual way. There is nothing wrong with being awkward. The foal that comes out of the mother horse is extremely awkward, standing shakily on its feet. The foal that comes out of the mother horse is the most beautiful thing on the planet. Because it tries, because it really, really tries.
